Donation to Backpacks 4 SA Kids & partnership with SAPOL Trauma Teddy Program

On 20 November 2016, Cops for Kids made a $20,000 donation to Backpacks 4 SA Kids. Backpacks 4 SA Kids is a wonderful organisation who provide backpacks containing clothes, pyjamas, toiletries, torches and more to children who are placed in emergency foster care, kinship or domestic violence shelters after being removed from their domestic environment. These backpacks contain age appropriate articles that are essential to a scared and vulnerable child when they have little time to grab what is important to them.

Along with the $20,000 donation, CFK has partnered with the SAPOL Trauma Teddy program to provide 300 teddies to Backpacks 4 SA Kids. In turn, Backpacks 4 SA Kids will be providing special backpacks to SAPOL areas who need them most, starting with the Western Adelaide Family Violence section and Special Crimes Investigation Branch for use by SAPOL members when assisting children during these types of events.

This is a unique partnership that has been four years in the making. To find out more about Backpacks 4 SA Kids visit their website

$1700 raised at the Rockleigh Carols in the Bush

Cops for Kids members had a fantastic time at the Rockleigh Carols in the Bush on Sunday 20 November 2016. The event got off to a very hot start, but as the sun went down so did the temperature and we were treated to a night of entertainment by the Band of the South Australia Police and local performers.

During the evening the hat was passed around and staggering $1700 was raised for Cops for Kids! It was a fantastic way to kick off the 10th anniversary celebrations this week.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity of those who attended and the hospitality shown to us on the night by the Rockleigh community. Special thanks goes to organiser Barbara Pym and her team.

CFK celebrate 10th Anniversary

November 2016 marks the 10 year anniversary of when Cops for Kids began. What started as a group of 70 members at Port Adelaide has grown into an initiative that now has over 1700 members and has donated $820,000 to help sick and disadvantaged children across South Australia.

To celebrate how far we have come we will be holding several events between 20 – 25 November, kicking off with the Carols in the Bush at Rockleigh on Sunday the 20th.

On Monday 21st and Friday 25th we will have a display in the foyer of the headquarters building from 8:00am to 10:30am. We will be there to promote CFK, sign up new members and will also have our new lapel pins available for purchase.

Keep an eye on your emails for details of a CFK BBQ and for some exciting announcements about two upcoming donations.
